Research Project:
Targeting SMARCA4, a frequently inactivated tumor suppressor gene in NSCLC - a paradigm shift
Summary:
Dr. Adi Gazdar and his research team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center will receive $200,000 over two years to evaluate methods for identifying particular gene mutations in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. The team will examine whether these patients will benefit from targeted therapy drugs known as Aurora-kinase inhibitors. Ultimately, this research has the potential to reduce the time it takes for Aurora kinase inhibitors to benefit patients through clinical trials.
