Research Project:
Evaluation of a novel diagnostic and therapeutic target in non-small lung cancer
Summary:
Targeted therapies can be effective in patients with NSCLCs leading to shrinkage of the tumor. Unfortunately, the effects often last for a limited amount of time before the tumor starts growing again due to the development of resistance to the therapy. New targeted therapies are therefore urgently needed. Dr. Grassilli’s team will investigate the role of a novel tyrosine kinase isoform in the biology of NSCLC and test whether its inhibition, alone or in combination with standard of care chemotherapy and/or targeted therapy may represent a novel therapeutic approach.
